A patient mentioned how great it would be to get a reminder or save the date message that would have an ICS or iCal link to automatically update smart calendars with appointment data

This is handled by the device's OS - it should recognize the date/time from the appointment reminder text. If it's not working, try adding more time/date information to the appointment reminder text template.

I disagree Matt, this isn't handled CONSISTENTLY by any OS and should be reconsidered. The Weave template options don't even have the ability to drop in the day of the week alone ("this Wednesday", etc) which is one of the key trigger words for the on device systems to recognize events while keeping language natural. Weave Emails at a minimum should have ICS attached to assist the OS in getting consistent results and accurate appointment information.
